Teach maths in smaller, safer steps through a world of football
Want your child ahead on day 1?
Fight the loss of learning in the summer with 4 Skills - 4 Days - 2 Weeks
We believe that every child can be a fearless learner.
By teaching through what they love, we turn tough maths into smaller, safer steps.
We do this through the imaginary football club, MAZ FC.
Football is familiar and fun in children's minds. By linking it to maths, it makes smaller safer steps to progress through. This makes it more enjoyable and easier to learn something tough.
We don't give you false promises of 'going up a level' or 'reaching the top group'. But we do guarantee they'll enjoy maths more and that gives your child everything they need to become fearless learners.

MAZ FC is a fictional club to completely surround maths education with real world football experiences.
We make children fearless learners by teaching through what they love. We turn tough maths into smaller, safer steps by using an imaginary club called 'MAZ FC'.
We layer together specialist teaching videos and football focused resources, to guide children through their learning.
Each month there is 1 MAZ FC magazine with 3 topics and 3 videos.
Different plans have access to communities, private channels and more to surround the children in the world of MAZ FC.
We have resources for 4 year groups. As this is across the United Kingdom, it is split into age groups rather than year names. These are as follows.
Age 6-7 = England & Wales Year 2, Scotland P2, Northern Ireland P3
Age 7-8 = England & Wales Year 3, Scotland P3, Northern Ireland P4
Age 8-9 = England & Wales Year 4, Scotland P4, Northern Ireland P5
Age 9-10 = England & Wales Year 5, Scotland P5, Northern Ireland P6
Our aim is to help children to become fearless learners. This will help them in all subjects learn faster and keep it longer.
To do this we do not follow a country's National Curriculum as there are slight differences between them.
Instead we have looked at all curriculums and picked out the key or tricky topics for every age group. This means your child will get taught the essentials that give them a strong foundation for learning any maths topic. There may be very slight differences to exactly when your child is taught a topic in school but that just gives them a head start.
Yes but can every child be a maths genius? No.
All our brains are different. If you asked me to write an essay, I could but I would find it extremely hard.
Children have the same natural tendencies but that doesn't mean they need to hate maths until they leave school. We believe that having confidence to try something and learn from your mistakes is the best goal. This will help them everywhere they go in life.
No one can promise you a child's scores will go up. But I guarantee, if you enjoyed something you would eventually get better at it. Why? You won't be scared to start, meaning you will spend more time at it. You'll then make more mistakes giving you more chances to learn. This makes you better and all coming from enjoyment.
Our mindset behind learning is maximum effort and laughing. Maximum effort gets the most learning from your time and laughing means you will spend more time at it.
We break tough maths topics into smaller safer steps. If you imagine going for a run, you don't think of the finish line. You aim for the end of the street first and you would run even faster if your family was at the end cheering you on. Teaching maths is like that. If you can give a child something familiar to attach the learning to, they will find it easier to get there. That is why we use football.
We don't give you false promises of 'going up a level' or 'reaching the top group in school'. But we do guarantee that they will enjoy maths with us. And that gives your child everything they need to become fearless learners.
I'm Owen. I'm a Maths Specialist Primary Teacher and creator of MAZ FC (in a N.I. accent 'maths' is pronounced 'maz').
I have taught all ages in primary schools across the U.K. I have met countless children struggling with maths because of either fear, gaps in what they know or just boredom.
I whole heartedly believe that the ability to enjoy learning is what makes the difference. Once children enjoy the topic then the academic learning grows faster and stays longer.
And that's why I combined football and maths to create the world of MAZ FC.
